Wonderful gumtree

Having maligned gum trees yesterday I thought I should make up for it today. I saw this magnificent specimen on my walk this morning. It reminded me of the enormous sadness of having lost so many trees in the bushfires this year. More than 12.6 million hectares of Australian bushland were burned in the 2019-2020 summer. Thankfully, new green leaves are starting to sprout on many of the burned trees.
