After Turner

Nipped up to see Edinburgh's Vaughan Bequest collection of Turners on it's annual January outing. I love the fact that, by keeping to the terms of the bequest even though modern display techniques have rendered them unnecessary, we have this yearly ritual to look forward to once the festivities are over.

Walking home along Ferry Rd, the sky was doing its best to imitate art. When I saw i'd caught the passing cars in the frame, like the tiny carts in Turner's works, it seemed appropriate. i think they are supposed to keep the celestial wonders connected to our lives on terra firma.

And I noticed for the first time the tiny wisp of domestic smoke spiralling out of the chimney of the house nestled up beside the gloriously lit Durham Cathedral.
