Ratatouille

A couple of years ago Oddie's bedroom went through its (frequent) revamp!

The ritual is always the same, things have to be bagged or boxed and kept because one day she might need them!

One thing that didn't find its way into a bag or box was a rolled up rug which I'd thought about selling. In fact I did try to sell it locally but it had a small stain and the person wasn't happy to pay £30 so I left it, nicely rolled, in the garage!

About two weeks ago I noticed some evidence of a mouse and ordered a humane trap. I loaded it with chocolate and waited. Nothing, rein, zilch.

So today we set to work to find the little critter.

We cleared everything out and then picked up the rug..   ugh! Stuff dropped out of it and a mouse shot out of the end of the roll.!

We managed drag the rug into the garden, and put bags on both ends, before rolling and taping it in a decorator's plastic dust sheet.  After admiring our handiwork (think body in a zip bag) we put the seat down in the car and drove to the outskirts of a village where we used to live.

Why did I do this, well apparently mice find their way back if the distance is less than 5 miles, and why did I tell you this.... because you need to know!

Anyhow we finally arrived at the destination and unrolled the rug... a big fat bee was munching on something but apart from half of Bleb's biscuits, not a mouse in sight.

Back in Garageland, we dragged the box with the important stuff out, and hey presto, there they were!

Tape at the ready we resealed before setting of again into no mans land where they were finally released to the wild... or who knows, maybe they're on their way to Paris to make a name for themselves on the culinary circuit.

Moral of the 'tail' never trust an Oddie....

Ps, anyone want to buy a rug... one owner. No stains now, only holes!
