The fun mattock wasn't needed this time. I dug up some weeds (mainly nettles with big established roots). When I got bored of that, I cut half the branches of a tree off with secateurs and saw.  When I got bored of that, I sprayed weedkiller on the remaining nettles then on the brambles until I couldn't avoid the fumes.

The green bin, freshly emptied by the bin men (thank you, bin men), is now full.

I washed the tools in the kitchen sink, and left them there to drip-dry.  This gets frowned upon for some reason.
