From here to Memphis?

Pretty, but not very rock 'n' roll is it?

Those of us of a certain age may have heard of the rather distinctive '80s band Prefab Sprout. If that doesn't ring any bells, you may recognise their most successful song The King of Rock 'N' Roll, with the rather random but memorable refrain 'Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque'. It certainly brings back memories for me!

The song is taken from their album 'From Langley Park to Memphis', and this is Langley Park - my home. The band were originally from Witton Gilbert, a village a couple of miles from here. The story goes that they wanted to call the album 'From Witton Gilbert to Memphis', but the record label didn't think it was catchy enough. I'm not sure that the actual title was much of an improvement, though!
