House of the Maori God of War

Today newly posted personnel to Waiouru attended a powhiri at the NZ Army marae to be welcomed (back). Although I'd been living here in Waiouru since 2006 I thought I'd go along as I had just re-enlisted so in a way could be considered as newly posted..

They said that we go through this process everytime we come back to Waiouru as it is like being welcomed home. I thought about it and agreed that Waiouru is afterall, the birthplace for NZ soldiers.

I guess I'm home now, and it's good to be home.
