Silly Saturday .....

…. stretching.

This corn feeder has been hanging in our birch tree for many years.  R puts a new ear of corn in it each morning. 

Then we watch the fun begin!  Each squirrel seems to have his/her own method of getting to the corn.  Some come down from the top. Some pull the feeder toward them.  And like this one …. some stretch to get to it!  Most of the squirrels then go up into the tree to each the kernels … but some will actually go bury it somewhere in the yard.  Later this summer I will may show the results of this burying method …. corn will actually germinate and stalks will appear all over the yard!
