The Old Exhibition Hall

It may have originally been used as an exhibition hall but this imposing brick of Stalinist architecture is now given over to a huge electronics market and book store.

I remember when I first came to Nanchang there was also a big VCD market. China pretty much missed VHS, spent a few years with VCDs then DVDs. The funny thing though was how many little old ladies used to call out 'Yellow DVD' to passers-by....in China 'Yellow Movie' is what in English would be called a 'Blue Movie'. But with the rise of the internet the number of DVD shops has slowly dwindled and now China gets its bootleg films and TV series (and its porn) in the same way as the rest of the world - online.
