Impermanence

We went for a walk today to the Tower Hamlets  Cemetery Park. I’m not overly fond of visiting cemeteries but I rather enjoyed this one. They have let nature have a fairly free hand and the place has wildflowers galore and feels peaceful. That feeling of peace was much needed.

I was reminded of a conversation I had years ago with a Buddhist friend who talked about impermanence. We were in a cemetery where families had spent a great deal of money to erect elaborate headstones and family crypts. He wondered who came to visit them, if anyone remembered them.

I would like to think that the memory of Ann of the Spotted Dog Inn, Upton, was carried on somewhere.
