Newly hatched

When I went for my walk today I got talking to a lady who was standing by the castle.  She had just released a mallard and her thirteen chicks into the moat.  She lives by the castle and mother mallard had built her nest in her garden.  The chicks had just hatched and she had taken them over in a pet carrier and put them into the water.

They took to it like a duck to water!
