The Mustang was and remains my favourite WW2 fighter plane.
As a practical proposition, it certainly must have been simpler to build than the Spitfire. This is also probably true when it comes to building toy aeroplane kits... If I can be bothered to find out.
Interesting fact: The Mustang was originally designed in response to a British specification requirement - from The British Air Purchasing Commission. And it was only latterly taken on by the USAF.
