Got up at 5am for my socially distant walk.

Was rewarded with my first ever sighting of a grasshopper warbler.

A bit of a record shot as they are notorious for skulking!

Grasshopper Warbler is “the most artful creature, skulking in the thickest part of a bush”  ~Gilbert White, 1768.

It belongs to the genus Locustella, which includes some of the most secretive birds in the Western Palearctic. These warblers walk, run, creep and hop in almost mouse-like fashion through dense vegetation, and are often found close to the ground.
