Life in a Northern Town

By kagsy

Another day in limbo.

Thank you so much for your lovely, comforting comments about the loss of Derek yesterday.

I didn’t sleep much, so many things to sort out but in common with the rest of the world we are a bit in limbo. Because recent GP consultations were done over the phone the GP has to refer the death to the coroner, so there will be a delay in registering the death. The funeral can be attended by close family only, with a graveside service. We are thankful he had a big 90th birthday party last year, and that he saw the huge number of people who wanted to celebrate with him.

Clearing the house will be a slow job as we have nowhere to take the contents. It was very strange to lock the house up yesterday and look back at it. The end of an era.

He never complained or moaned about life; he was the ultimate glass half-full person, all his stories, no matter how often we heard the same ones, were positive. I am going to try and take a leaf from his book.

Back to the furloughing today, stay safe x
