This glorious spring sunshine has brought out the bees in really good numbers. We are delighted to see solitary bees using our bee nest boxes, of which we have several..
This is one bought from Aldi for just a few pounds, and hung under the eaves of the garage in full sunshine.
The bees choose a tunnel that fits them, and fill it up with eggs. These are supplied with pollen and then sealed, and the larvae feed and pupate, to hatch the following year.
It’s very satisfying to watch them using it and a great project for children too.
