Extending Things

It is a week for extensions. We are extending our house, our living room in this picture. There is a big steel beam up there now, cleverly concealed by our builder. Yesterday, the family was extended. A lovely new baby girl for my nephew, R, and his lovely partner, M. As I blip this, we are extending a conference deadline; called a Redeye in the trade. I am watching the news and they are extending the high speed rail network, connecting up London with the North Pole......well apparently £35 billion only gets you as far as Manchester unfortunately. So, forget about the Scots and the Geordies, we will have to live in glorious isolation from 'commuter chaos'.

Here's a thought.... Why not save all this money and extend/build a broadband infrastructure that enables more effective remote working. If you have to travel, then invest in high speed communications for trains with comfortable work areas and trains with far more carriages. That extra hour spent travelling could then be very highly productive. Simples.....
