MONO MONDAY EXPECTATIONS

"Check your expectations at the door.
Expectations are the handmaidens of disappointment.
We expect things to go one way, & they inevitably go another,"
- -Sue Schroeder

We learned that plant nurseries are "essential businesses," so we went to this one hoping to find CLEVELAND SAGE.  We did not, but we did
find Lemon Balm, & Nasturtium for my herb garden & local wild flower honey for our tea.

And I was so happy!

PS:  Nasturtium, also called Indian Cress, is native to Central/South America, & literally means "nose twister."
'I'm sure Carl Linnaeus might be able to explain that.

It is the only genus in the family Tropaeolaceae, but there are around
80 species of this annual or perennial, herbaceous, flowering plant. They are bi-sexual & zygomorphic, which might make them illegal in some states, but not California.  All parts of the plant are edible & the flowers are a beautiful addition to salads, if grown without herbicides/pesticides.

They have self-seeded for me.  The volunteers pop up in the far reaches of my yard, but they have not been invasive.  They come in a variety of colors, but my favorite is the classic orange.
