Lockdown in Spring

Lockdown in Spring

Lockdown in spring as the days awake earlier,
somehow lifting their heads to the grace of a new moment.

It’s easy to reach for my patience
as, fate falling, the breeze of Upton
caresses me, teases me;
suggesting that somehow my every heartbeat is free.

Our skies, now clear, shine upon
this blessed land so heavy with life.
Trees blossom, hedgerow blooms
and the swallow takes the breeze.

I dig. What else can beat
the feeling of my blade
slicing into ready earth;
open, willing, free.

There is something incredible in this time,
as we live to hope we can love again.
My eyes fall sideways as I am cut in two.
Tomorrow may arrive, today is bliss.
