Runup at full speed

Tested my luck again at Sandy Beach this morning - another beautiful day!  Couldn't resist adding the extra - two friends diving into a wave, waving feet!

Morning newspaper headline  :  FLORISTS CAUGHT OFF GUARD
Businesses fear they'll be stuck with thousands of flowers because the Ige administration sent contradictory messages about whether flower shops can have a business exemption to make contactless deliveries.
One shop got a verbal OK on Wednesday, followed up by an email the next day, then hit with a denial the next day!   Ige says "I think that permission was granted prematurely.  I was not aware that it was actually granted, and the person authorizing it did not have the authority."
Says they will be  "looking business by business and industry by industry to see what the best practices are, and we will be making a decision about florists in the future."    Does Ige not realize the lead time necessary  . . .?  And for Mothers' Day?    - come on  -

Edit (just in)  - Ige has reneged yet again and allowed florists to open.

And :  Free from the human eye
With tourism on furlough, Hawaii's humpback whales are free from constant scrutiny.   Citizen volunteers have been providing some wildlife conservation groups with anecdotal glimpses of other native marine animals catching a breather from tourists' (and locals) hot pursuit.

And :  Conservation effort
Our US House of Representatives have proposed a study of Kaena Point for potential designation as the state's first National Heritage Area.  Representative Case said the state Department of Land and Natural Resources has an existing management plan for the area but lacks the resources for full implementation.

Be well, stay inside, and take care, everyone.
