At first the suckers that I took from the tree on my apple propagation day looked rather miserable and the twig cuttings thrived. Then the twig cuttings started to wilt and the suckers bounced back. So today, on what looked like it would be the last sunny day for quite some time, I dug 40cm deep wherever there were suckers around the trunk and removed them all. If they were all to succeed, which they won't, I would have a small orchard. What I actually want is one tree for me and a few to give away - specifically two for our local community orchard. These are the suckers I have left after potting about 40 but I have now run out of pots...

No changes to the pavement art.
