Thirlmere Birketts

Today's weather forecast said it was going to be the best day of the week, so we had a look through the Birkett book, and thought we'd have a go at the last one on the west shore of Thirlmere.

Supposedly a short 6 miler, it ended up a good deal longer. A totally pathless walk, so navigation relied on GPS, and I'm glad we did it before any rain comes through this week, as it looked like it could be a total quagmire.

Birkett's done:

Brown Rigg
Blea Tarn Fell
Standing Crag
Coldbarrow Fell - Low Saddle
Coldbarrow Fell - High Saddle
Ullscarf
Wythburn Fell

There were great views over Blea Tarn (the one above Watendlath, NOT the one in the Langdales) - Extra, and over Watendlath Tarn, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite in the far distance.
