The bellows weir at Ramspol is an inflatable dam, located between the Ketelmeer and the Zwarte Meer. This bellows weir has been constructed to protect the area along the Zwarte Meer against water from the Ketelmeer. It is the largest bellows weir in the world and the only one intended as a storm surge barrier.

The total weir consists of three bellows made of a very strong rubber blanket. These are automatically filled with air and water when, during a north-westerly storm, the water level has risen to 50 cm above NAP and the water flows towards Zwarte Meer. [1] The bellows then forms a barrier of 10 meters high. Shipping is not possible with a closed weir. The decision to construct the 100 million euro barrage was expected to come into operation at high water once a year on average...
