Day 42 - Sir Christopher Wren

Day 42 - Sir Christopher Wren(1632-1723) lived at the Old Court House from 1708 to 1723, this is very near Hampton Court Palace and is now on a busy road. (See extra)
After Oxford University he became a professor of astronomy and was also involved in other scientific work such as optics, microscopy and meteorology. He was a founder of the Royal Society and was its president from 1680-1682 .
Later he became an architect and was responsible for rebuilding 51 churches after the Fire of London (1666). His most notable achievement is St Paul’s cathedral, completed in 1710, as well as the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the Royal Naval College Greenwich and the south front of Hampton Court Palace.
