A Day In The Life

River Fix

Today was a Grade A day! Lots of sunshine with temps hitting 60F. After a couple of errands we had a picnic lunch inside the car by the Kennebec River. It’s the only spot still open to the public. We enjoyed seeing cormorants and mallard ducks fly back and forth, along with ravens diving from limb to limb to the river’s edge. I like the contrast of the blackbird against the color of new spring grasses. This shot reminds me of Wallace Stevens’ Poem “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Black Bird” -

The river is moving.
The blackbird must be flying.
(stanza XII)
