Noises off

The water softener is very important around here. Our water is HARD! This morning, for the first time whilst we have lived here, I awoke to eerie noises and running water.

Turns out, the softener does a purge at regular intervals as a part of it's thing! Who knew?

I suppose when our predecessors fitted the device there was a manual? Off I go to the internet to find some answers!
