L'Aurore

Morris (1895) is right, for once, when he writes that the Orange Tip is a "strikingly handsome insect" unfortunately his sentence continues "whether seen in its flight or adorning the cabinet". It is of course a name that only applies to the male, the female forewings have black tips and spots. I rather like the French name "L'Aurore" (the Dawn), which seems most appropriate.
