Candles in the Wind

When lockdown began here in the UK, on the 23rd March, the horse chestnut trees at the bottom of the garden were bare, apart from brown buds. I used to go down there in the early morning and stand in the sun. No longer; now they are thick with leaves, and we have at last stopped tracking their sticky buds into the house on our feet. Then the "candles" started growing up, all green, gradually bursting into columns of white flowers, each one like a miniature hibiscus, see extra of one blown down in the wind a few days ago.

I'm sort of hoping we're not here to see the conkers dropping off...

A day of cleaning and Mike back working on the attic, ending with some superb takeaway pizzas from next-door's brother's place. And now the Sabbath begins...

Gratefuls:
- properties of bleach, wiping away the virus
- progress on the attic
- pizza in boxes, and hardly any washing-up
