Another orchid

White Helleborine (Cephalanthera damasonium) in bud.  I'll blip it again when the flower is more open.  It never opens fully as it is self-pollinating.  This orchid is relatively common, but declining, on chalklands under shady beechwoods, which describes my garden well.

The plant takes 7 to 8 years to develop from seed and then another 2 to 3 years to flower.  This example has popped up on one of my woodland paths, so I built a little fence around it a few weeks ago so that it wouldn't get inadvertently stepped on...
