Zucchini Poker

Actually, how do spell Zu-Kee-Nee. Above is correct. But I wanted to do the exercise so I could remember.
Hmmm...in Europe is this the conventional use of the word, for this vegetable. This will be saved for a different entry, as it appears that it depends on the country.

So we were playing poker, and found zucchini available for betting. I won the first hand with Aces beating Jacks. I ate my winnings with the last of the homemade hummus. How do you spell that in the U.K. No, I am not going there.

From Poker we slid into a great card game we played recently with visitors from the U.S., called Shithead. Apparently a very popular game but we have been living in caves on and off for sixty years and had to be brought up to speed with a quick YouTube refresher, as we already forgot the basics.
Highly recommended game, as everybody knows, except us.

I joined the Merriam-Webster site today and they have great word games. Are you surprised?
Two interesting words today, that pertain to today's politics.
Pleonasm: The use of more words than those necessary to denote mere sense.
Solecism: An ungrammatical combination of words in a sentence.

Spanish Johnny drove in from the underworld last night
With bruised arms and broken rhythm in a beat-up old Buick but dressed just like dynamite
He tried sellin' his heart to the hard girls over on Easy Street...
