Water hawthorn

Aponogeton distachyos, commonly known as water hawthorn, is one of the few plants that does well in our pond. The unusually shaped flowers have a beautiful perfume (if they ever grow close enough to the edge of the pond to sniff them). When I enlarged the photograph I noticed that a cheeky fly had photobombed my shot.
