Mono Flicker - Low Light

In this section of the woods, the trees are tall, old and thick. Even on a sunny day it is in shadow.  Woodpeckers, Wrens, Wood ducks, and various other birds call this section home as there is such great cover and it has a pond beside it.  I was absolutely thrilled to see this Northern Flicker as it was going into its nest!  I will be keeping a keen eye on this spot  ; )

They say that we are in a polar vortex....what the ????  It has dropped by 10 degrees compared to yesterday.  At least the sun is out....at times.
