RIP Cindy

Our wonderful boss for the last 17 years, Cindy. Sadly not the best photo, I took myself in the strong light while she lay on my lap as we waited for the vet to arrive and give her the final jab.

In recent weeks she has become very weak, seemingly her organs giving up and her body swelling with excess water which no doubt put pressure on her lungs & heart.

Throughout it all, she has maintained her dignity as head of the household, going out under her own steam to do her business & then spend the day on the terrace soaking up the sun & making sure everyone behaves. But despite her attempts to hide it, has been clear in the last 24 hours that she is at her limit.

As throughout her life, she kept talking to us right up to the end. She will be sorely missed.

The vet, who has treated her for the last 17 years was quite shocked at the extent of the water - she actually said she had never seen anything like it in her 40+years as a vet.

This was Cindy in 2003 several months after she came to us as a kitten and met her lifelong friend Flash who died in 2018 and who she now joins in the garden.
