Sgwarnog: In the Field

Notched

The Speckled Wood were being a bit more placid today, so I have a chance to feature one for the first time this year.  The notched wing and shadow added to the appeal of this one.

I also found a Green Hairstreak in the Spring Wood meadow, a good few hundred metres from their closest colony on Moorside, and a similar distance from any bilberry bushes. Perhaps they're having a good season and the odd male is having to fly  some distance to establish territory? I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that they were not very mobile though. I saw Peacock, Orange-tip, Green-veined White and Small White too, and the Little Owl was in its usual spot.
