A concrete love affair

RIP Florian

I can’t believe Florian, co-founder of Kraftwerk and electronic music pioneer, has passed away.

In the 1970’s, Kraftwerk’s stunning innovation created an entirely new genre of music - made on computer operated by robots. They celebrate and inspire travel - romanticising the transport infrastructure of Autobahns and Trans-European train travel. I loved hearing the stories on the radio today of people listening to Kraftwerk as they drove the Autobahn, or rode the sleeper train east across the European continent..

For me, so many fond memories of driving East to Poland with Kraftwerk on repeat..The music sounding even more magical as you travel beneath the blue Autobahn gantries, drive passed pylons, power stations, radio towers and concrete bridges weaving a way through the industrial patchwerk of Kraftwerk’s home-patch Nord Rhine Westphalia.

Kraftwerk truly are the Kerouac novel for the Walkman generation.  RIP Florian
