The napkin rings were made and painted by my grandmother, who died before I was born. My mum had two sewing boxes made by her mother; a marquetry one and a pokerwork one. Somehow when Mum died, I forgot about them and allowed the house to be cleared, but I'm glad to have the napkin rings which I was familiar with as a child.
The hand painted tile comes from Seville. I bought it in Triana, the artisan quarter of the city in 1987, which was full of ceramic shops. Azulejo tiles derive from the time of the Moors, and are still used to decorate walls in Spain and Portugal. (I'm needing a few more!)
