Tree Felling

The smaller tree in this picture is no longer there. It shadowed The Red House on spring and summer afternoons, and looked a bit strange, growing so close to the big pine, so it was time for it to go. I sawed the lower branches off a few days back, in part so it was easier to get at with the motor saw, and in part to spread the work out a little.  The latter idea worked well as today I cut the tree down, removed the top branches and got rid of them, sawed the trunk into 30cm sections, split the logs and stacked them to dry. All done and dusted in an afternoon.
