VE Day 75 years on

For once, we stopped thinking about  coronavirus for a while and came together to celebrate the day the war ended in Europe 75  years ago. 

The day began with a Zoom session with the Mindfulness group. After observing two minutes silence with Prince Charles and Camilla, at 11, it was off to deliver tomato plants to P of our French group which hasn't met for nearly two months now. I'm still amazed I managed to sow and raise my own 'Gardener's Delight' with lots to give away to others.

Back to bake some quick scones before tuning in to BBC 1 VE Day programme. After having seen the neighbours only last evening for the NHS clap, we were reunited again for the street party.

Later on it was back to BBC 1 again and the Queen's speech. The great downside and the irony of all this though is that there must be many veterans among the thousands who are dying in our care homes because our Government and its advisors seem to have got  its strategy so badly wrong.
