Mrs. Beeton

This is a Mrs. Beeton from 1891. I do use it for recipes from time to time. It is the most fascinating book, though I don't have much use for the sections on The Treatment of Servants and Advice to Cooks and Kitchen-Maids. I'd so love to go back to visit that lady who according to the flyleaf was given it by "her loving husband, Xmas 1891" and see how she used it.

The adverts at the back include

THOMSON'S Glove-Fitting CORSET.
Perfection!!! Sold by all Drapers.
One Million Pairs Annually.
Approved by the whole polite world.
10/6

A bargain. I need one! Or a pair? Should have blipped the picture. It would give me a very different shape, I'm not sure my internal organs would know where to go.
