What a difference a week makes - I hope that it manages to survive the frost which is predicted for tonight.

Today has been spent mainly on geneology, exploring the life of my great great grandmother Betsy Farquhar from Brechin.  She had an uncle who made his fortune in  America in the gold rush which he then invested wisely. He left Betsy $5000 when he died in 1893. Betsy used part of this bequest to obtain a divorce from her husband who had left her (and their 8 children) to set up home with another woman in Dundee.  The divorce case, which must have been unusual at the time, was reported in teh Dundee Courier and other local papers.
