My dad

Fought WW1 shot on the Somme 1916, then served in Palestine with Lawrence of Arabia. He was a cavalry officer in the 5th Royal Irish Lancers.

WW2 caught 1940 around Dunkirk. Spent 5 years as a PoW. Spent some time with Douglas Bader who was a pain in the derrière! He and his fellow inmates were saved by Gen Patton’s men whilst being forced to march being to Malthausen to be gassed in 1945.

Courage lightly worn but a burden carried for his whole life. A kinder man I have yet to meet.

This is the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Channel Islands liberated 9 May 1945. Sadly all celebrations were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Thank you for your service to all those who served. You are giants upon whose shoulders we stand.
