Rule of thirds

There was no pleasure in being outside today - it was windy, wet and cold when I did the next bit of chair glueing. So I spent most of the day poring over architects' drawings and, to see whether I can make space work better than them, measuring bathroom fittings, built-in cupboards, furniture, risers and what I thought were called 'treads' but which seem to be called 'goings'. (Edit: I am wrong. See the document SpotsOfTime linked to. A 'tread' is the horizontal bit of wood you put your foot onto and and its going is its depth.)
I have done one floor plan I am happy with and three variations on another. More tomorrow.
