NOT a weed.

Ever a lover of the odd/unusual, and having grown Jerusalem Artichokes for multiseveral years I gave poverty another mild tap and bought a "Gourmet Root Collection" comprising:-
Chinese Artichoke "Conito" Stachys affinis, who'd a thunk it? A relative of the "Lamb's Lugs".

Jerusalem Artichoke "Papas"
I've had for 20+ yrs and NEVER seen a single flower.  Wee game I play online shows it with flowers.

Oca Giggles - Oxalis tuberosa
Almost looks as though it could be a border flower.

Yacon "Inca Red". "The yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius) is a species of perennial daisy traditionally grown in the northern and central Andes from Colombia to northern Argentina for its crisp, sweet-tasting, tuberous roots. "

Whilst investigating them I ran across a Site with password protection. Learning that the password was "Mashua" I just had to look it up; another edible root and the site owner (Irish) sells them.  Mebbe next year EH?
A relative of the Tropeolum which finally gave up the ghost under the Taxus Bacata fastigiata (Tall THIN Yew)
Also related to the Nasturtium apparently.

"Tropaeolum tuberosum (mashua) is a species of flowering plant in the family Tropaeolaceae, grown in the Andes, particularly in Peru and Bolivia, and to a lesser extent in Ecuador as well as in Boyocá Department,Colombia, for its edible tubers, which are eaten cooked or roasted as a vegetable."

Whilst investigating the above I ran across a Site with password protection.  Learning that the password was "Mashua" I just had to look it up; another edible root and the site owner (Irish) sells them.  Mebbe next year EH?

Another "Watch this space".
;¬)

For the Blip record - at last; the centre "plant" is a slip of my resident "Dead Nettle" the colour of which I'll have to wait and see as I can't !@£$%^ remember.
