Out and About

Fuzzy-tongue Penstemon - Penstemon eriantherus

The other day, a botanist friend of mine told me to be on the look out for fuzzy-tongue Penstemon. She said that she knew I often hiked at Dry Gulch and they had discovered some colonies of the plant there. These plants are quite rare in our parts of the country and she was quite excited by the discovery.

Yesterday, I ran into to the botanist and she was geo-mapping these plants in another area. She said that the Land Trust's work on removing knapweed and cheat grass have allowed other plants to come back so she found the presence of this wildflower quite heartening.

So world, here is a fuzzy-tongue Penstemon....
