Forlorn, and yet...

...hopeful that someone, perhaps a person who is finding self-isolation difficult, will see that it too is on its own and will sit down, warm the old slats, think how fine the last autumn leaves are, and after a peaceful time of reflection move on gratefully...leaving it so much happier than before.
