Revised!

I've been somewhat dissatisfied with this painting since I finished it in July. It just didn't seem to have enough value contrast and the flatness of it really wasn't working. I wanted it to be abstract but it just didn't seem quite right. Especially after I completed my last desert painting which I really loved. So today I took it, and another painting from the desert series, to open studio for some rework. This is the result. It still has the same bones as it did originally. (You can see it as it was here.) Now it is a bit closer to the reference photo but still feels abstract to me. And it now has the feeling I wanted to convey about this part of the desert. Take a look at the large version.
