Social Club

At one time Social Clubs or Working Men's Clubs used to be very popular in North East England as well other places I am sure.  Think along the lines of Phoenix Nights.  Their heyday was in the 1970's but many are now in decline or have closed completely.  

The one in my village closed in in 2016 and is soon to be demolished and 14 wheelchair accessible flats are to be built on the site.
