C2C Day 8 - Reeth to Richmond

Welcome, short but sweet, the weather promised much but was predominantly cloudy throughout.  We left with our lightest bags of the holiday so far, as we expected to be in Richmond by lunch time.

Lovely up hill section through woods just beyond Marrick Priory with wild garlic and bluebells lining the path.  We again moved away from the river Swale.  You don't get the impression from the books that you spend so much time out of Swaledale while travelling from Keld to Richmond.

Ross is now snoring in front of me as I type this in our guesthouse!.  I have previously been told that the Walters gang can sleep at the drop of the hat.  We are off (if Ross wakes up) to find a pub to watch the FA Cup final, although the cricket club also looked as though there was a match on and we are toying with the idea of sitting on the boundary, enjoying a beer.

Entered Richmond at 12.15, just over 3 hours after starting.  Popped to Co-op for provisions.  Spoke to Rachy and Bryn and thanked them for our parcel.

Accommodation Report – Pottergate Guest House, Richmond

Comfort – 4 Stars (out of 5)
Hospitality – 3 Stars
Food – 4 Stars
Facilities – 3 stars (Ross said that not being able to get the Grand Prix was a big minus)

Overall – 3.5 Stars

A warm welcome, but no scones and tea on arrival.  A useful base for a good evening with our new found friends.
