Sunbathing

Two weeks ago  just one egg hatched in the last guinea fowl nest. The young mother didn't know what to do with the keet (baby guinea fowl) and let it get cold and wet then abandoned it. It was more dead than alive when my neighbours' daughter found it and I put it under the heat lamp without much hope it would survive.  Twenty minutes later I was delighted to hear loud chirping and it was standing up.  At the weekend I found a companion the same age for it - a pure bred Silver Laced Wyandotte chicken.  The chicken is bigger but they get on fine. They spend the days out in the sun and the nights under the heat lamp.
