In other news, finally cut the grass, and Mr Blackbird seemed well impressed. Not as impressed (and relieved) as I was, when the mower started first pull of the cord. Did drain the carb. beforehand, which always helps at the start of the season... not that mid-May is normally the start of the season. Must be a record late start. At least one keen person nearby started in March.  The edges can wait a while longer.
