Sgwarnog: In the Field

Combination

A colourful combination of Hawthorn and Broom provides a nice foreground for the view from Moorside across the valley to Rawdon Billing. A tiny fragment of the Tong Park Viaduct is visible in the middle ground.

I thought today's very warm day might bring one or two new butterfly species for the year, but as it was a work day I only had a shortish walk out and there was nothing different. Small numbers, but a reasonable variety: Wall, Peacock, Small White, Small Tortoiseshell and Orange-tip. And moths: Silver-Y, Chimney Sweeper, Brown Silver-line and what may be a Common White wave.  and Common White Wave moth. And my first Common Blue Damselfly of the year.
