Perfect Skin

Last October my wife was at our croft in the Outer Hebrides. While putting peat in the stove she slipped and burnt her arm. She attended A&E in Stornoway who sent pictures to the burns unit in Glasgow. For the last six months a nurse has come to the house once a week to change the dressing. Today's visit more or less confirmed she requires hospital intervention.

My album of the day is "A Nod's As Good As a Wink...To a Blind Horse" by The Faces. This was their second album of 1971 and most consistent of their career. A band brimming with talent, a mix of their own songs and covers still sound fresh and exciting. Most people say their favourite track is "Stay With Me" but I always had a soft spot for "You're So Rude".

On this day in 1975 I saw American singer-songwriter Don McLean. The two most popular songs at the time of the concert were American Pie and Vincent, his tribute to Van Gogh. Nobody is sure what American Pie is about except "the day the music died" refers to the death of Buddy Holly.
